We are now recruiting for a number of new Data Scientist Consultants to work across a portfolio of “Proof of Concept” projects and programmes for clients in the UK and Europe.  You will act as a lead data scientist for medium sized ($10M USD or 15 project team members) or large projects ($20M USD or 25 project team members) including complex, performance intensive, enterprise-class solutions. You will own the proposed “Big Data” solution and ensure it meets the client's requirements, is architecturally complete, and all architectural risks are quantified for the project. You will need to be confident as you will often undertake solo consultancy engagements without the support of other Unisys associates. 

 

Job Description:

 

  • You will lead client engagements with in-depth portfolio knowledge and implementation experience.

     

  • You will ensure that the Big Data solution aligns with and utilizes the Unisys portfolio offering that results in profitable revenue growth.

     

  • You will act as a primary technical interface to the client and assume a leadership role for developing the Proof of Concept business opportunities and ensure a positive financial outcome.

     

  • You will assume a leadership position within the Data Science Architect Community and effectively utilize the Unisys collaboration infrastructure to improve Big Data solution quality and project team effectiveness.

     

  • You will effectively promote the use of Unisys standard processes and Data Science/Analytics methodologies. 

     

  • You will identify opportunities for new or follow-on business and assist in creating change orders in the analytics and application areas.

     

  • You will lead Data Science/Analytics advisory services, strategic planning activities and business case development within the assigned Unisys portfolio and Proof of Concept engagements.

     

  • You will mentor junior data architects and analysts.

     

  • You will lead strategic consulting presentations to clients including features, implementation approach, technical requirements, impacts, and benefits across Big Data solutions.

     

  • You will be responsible for Proof of Concept proposal management, solution design, solution review, risk analysis, proposal preparation and client presentations.

     

  • You will provide key oversights for technical estimates created using standards tools.

     

  • You will analyze and evaluate the client’s requirements against Big Data offerings and perform a Build Vs. Buy analysis.

     

  • You will Architect a complete Big Data solution using appropriate Unisys portfolio offerings with design elements that allow integration into a client’s environment.

     

  • You will direct the activities of junior data architects and analysts assigned to business development solution.

     

  • You will refine and optimize data architectural models and review the architectural artifacts produced by junior architects and analysts.

     

  • You will create Big Data architectural prototypes as required.

     

  • You will maintain knowledge of Data Science technologies, Big Data industry trends, standards and design techniques.

     

  • You will guide the full life-cycle of Big Data and Advanced Analytics solutions.

     

  • You will maintain a current knowledge of the Big Data Analytics technology industry and the Federal IT marketplace to determine the impact of emerging policies and technologies.

     

  • You will perform vendor landscape and technology assessments (Hadoop, NoSQL, distributed RDBMS, In-memory databases, BI / Reporting, analytical tools / languages, data visualization, etc.)

     

  • You will be responsible for rapid prototyping to demonstrate value of Big Data use cases

     

  • You will design and architect Big Data and Analytics solutions to deliver highly scalable, high performing, distributed applications.

     

  • You will support business development activities to articulate Unisys’s Big Data Analytics capabilities and help shape and communicate proposed solutions to client executives and architects.


Skills and Experience:
 

  • You will possess a deep experience across systems integration, information management, data management and architecture, and business analytics.
     
  • You will have In-depth knowledge of the leading and emerging technologies, architectural concepts and principles relative to the data management environment (e.g. NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
     
  • You MUST have a thorough understanding of Big Data and Advanced Analytics concepts.
     
  • You will have significant commercial experience in Big Data related technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce, HBase, Cloudera, Cassandra, MongoDB, EMC Greenplum, MarkLogic, and (or) Hana.
     
  • You will have hands on experience designing and programming high-scale or distributed systems (such as Hadoop).
     
  • You will have hands-on experience with analytical tools, languages, or libraries (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R, Mahout).
     
  • You will have hands-on experience with BI tools and reporting software (e.g. Microstrategy, Cognos, Pentaho).
     
  • You will have experience with highly scalable and distributed RDBMS (e.g. Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum, Aster Data, Vertica).
     
  • You will have significant experience in IT field building scalable, high-performance, reliable, highly available and large distributed systems.

     

  • You will have excellent communication skills, written and oral, able to recommend solutions and engage with client stakeholders.

     

  • You will have a passion for all things technical and must be able to demonstrate a clear methodology used to achieve success in previous Big Data projects.

     

  • Good IT skills using MS Office suite.

     

  • You will possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills, able to quickly assess and understand a client’s needs and priorities.
     
  • You will be comfortable working on your own and able to take a consultative approach with your clients.
     
  • Ideally you will hold a Master’s Degree, PH. D or equivalent experience in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Sciences.
     
  • Ideally you will hold a Full, Clean UK Driving Licence as you will be required to travel to client sites on a regular basis.
